Old Men Grooving on Italian TV 2018
On the 25th of April 2018 we were contacted by the biggest TV show in Italy ‘Amici di Maria de Filippi’. The show is aired annually from October/November until May/June and is produced by Fascino P.G.T. s.r.l. & owned by Maria De Filippi.
It is unusual for us to be contacted with only two days notice to perform on an International TV show. The Old Men Grooving team is always up for a groove, so we had a chat to see who was available and got ourselves together.
Unfortunately Banxy was not available so we contacted the lovely Sam Patrick who is part of the Old men Grooving family and we got into rehearsal to dust off the cobwebs….
The Amici Connection.
Amici is an academy school involving a class of about 20 youth students (18-25 age), who aspire to become professional singers, songwriters and dancers (classical, modern, jazz and hip-hop). The group is split into two teams & they go head to head with exhilarating dance routines and Wonderful song choices.
On this particular show they wanted to highlight, ‘LA Dancza E Liberata Di Essere Cio Che Sei’
“dance is Freedom to be who you are”
Once we heard that they would love for us to be apart of this segment we were over the moon that we could Once again travel to another country and share or passion for dance.
SHOWTIME!
We arrived in Rome where the show is produced and aired & it was a beautiful sunny day. After meeting the lovely Nicola and our driver from the Amici team, we were taken to lunch and then on to our first rehearsal.
The staff at Amici were very helpful and were equally excited to start preparations for the show. They said that they would love us to do a mash up of some of the routines that we performed on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015.
The performance consisted of four groups who would perform a one minute slot in a four minute segment. We put some of our favourite grooves together and in no time we were ready and excited to perform with the other wonderful acts.
The first group was a Michael Jackson tribute act from Korea followed by the talented Marco Ruben Contreras Mateluna who is a well known Street dancer from Italy. Our groovy performance was next followed by the incredible Nico Espinos and Paddy Jones, You may remember them from Britain’s Got Talent in 2014 they have mustard up over 63 million views!!
In the Italian language ‘Amici’ translates as ‘friends, we had a great time and most definitely made some wonderful new friends during this fantastic trip.
We hope you enjoy the show!
